MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Following a tied-3rd place finish in the SIUE Dolenc Invitational,
Seamus Bogan was named OVC Co-Golfer of the Week.
Morehead State junior Bogan placed in the top-3 of 100 individuals, carding a 68-68-69--205 (-8). Bogan secured his fourth top-5 finish, and third top-3 finish.Â
"It feels good to be playing this good again," said Bogan.
HIs driver actually broke in the practice rounds before round three started, and he used a 5 wood the entire third round as his longest club.
"Some unexpected misfortune before the first round, but I had enough confidence in myself to see that it wouldn't be a problem."
Bogan's score of 205 (-8) was the sixth-best tournament performance by a Morehead State golfer over the past 15 seasons based on final score and score relative to par.
"Seamus was super consistent from start to finish and put together a great event," said Head Coach
Matthew Martin. "To shoot three straight rounds in the 60s, every facet of your game must be firing. I am also proud of how he handled some adversity during the warm-up before the start of round 3. Â Once the round started, he was locked in for a climb up the leader board."
Bogan led the team in all three rounds, showing great consistency, even without his driver in round three.
He tied for third in par-4 scoring average (3.89), tied for seventh in par-5 scoring average (4.42) and tied for fifth in total pars (38 out of the entire playing field.
Bogan and the Eagles will be back in action on Friday, Oct. 2, at The Indy at Forest Hills, an individuals competition.Â
