MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Morehead State Rifle lifted the lid on its 2026-27 season with a home victory over Mount Aloysius (Pa.) Saturday. The Eagles totaled 4,669 aggregate as a squad.
The Eagles boasted the top five shooters in aggregate for the day, including junior
Trey Myers. His 593 in Air Rifle and 582 in Smallbore led all shooters.
The Mounties, coached by former Eagle shooter Siarra "CC" Crum, totaled 4,591, which was a program record for them.
In Air Rifle, besides Myers, junior
Chloe Shannon fired a 590. A pair of freshmen had solid debuts in the counters, led by
Ysabelle Martinez with a 587.
Karis Junker turned in a 586. Freshman
Lucy Evans rounded out the team's 2356 total with a 584. Smallbore saw Myers lead the way, followed by a 580 from Martinez. Junior
George Kuhne ranked third on the squad with a 577, while Shannon was at 574. Evans finished out the lineup with a 566.
Other notables who were not in the counters included senior transfer
Corbin Jockers, who carded a 580 in Air and 575 in Smallbore. Kuhne had a 582 in Air, followed by James "J.T." Wright, III, with a 577 in Air. He also finished with the identical final target in Smallbore, 577.
Molly Miller was Mount's top shooter, fashioning 583 in Air and 572 in Smallbore.
The teams will conclude the weekend with another shoulder-to-shoulder matchup at Button Range Sunday.
