Morehead, Ky. -- Morehead State came out of gates fast but fell to SIUE 3-1 (25-6, 20-25, 17-25, 27-25) Saturday afternoon at First Community Arena in Edwardsville, Ill.
 
Morehead State (10-14, 6-8 OVC) was led by Hollan Everett with 15 kills, posting a .265 hitting percentage on 34 attacks. Amelia Nott notched 10 terminations on 27 attacks and posted three service aces, matching her season high.
 
The Eagles dominated the first set, closing out the frame with a 16-1 run. Morehead State posted a .517 hitting percentage with 15 kills on 29 attacks with no errors. SIUE posted a -.115 hitting percentage with four kills on 26 swings and seven errors. Nott and Everett paced the MSU attack with five kills apiece. Nott posted a .714 hitting percentage with an ace; Everett hit .500 in the frame.
 
A 4-0 run put the Cougars ahead for good in the second set after the Eagles led through the early stage of the set. Another four-point SIUE run put the Cougars ahead 21-15 and SIUE cruised to the set win. The Cougars posted a .333 hitting percentage in the frame; MSU hit .212. Ella Warrick led the MSU attack with four kills in the set. SIUE had a balanced attack with three players recording four kills.
 
SIUE jumped out to an early 4-1 lead in the third set and the Cougars never trailed in the frame. Two three-point runs gave the Cougars a 15-9 lead and SIUE coasted to the set win 25-17. MSU was held to a -.029 hitting percentage as SIUE posted a stout five blocks in the frame and hit .207.
 
An 8-1 run put SIUE in the driver's seat at 18-13 in the fourth set. Morehead State put together a rally: a 5-1 Eagle run cut the SIUE lead to 20-19. MSU then went on a 5-1 run to gain a set point at 24-23. The teams traded points and SIUE closed out the match with a 3-0 run to take the set 27-25. The Eagles hit .286 in the set; SIUE posted a .239 efficiency.
 
SIUE (8-16, 6-6 OVC) was led by Sophie Robinson, who posted 15 kills with a .429 hitting percentage. Robinson also tied for the match high with three aces. Georgia Bresnahan and Karli Mann added eight kills apiece

• SIUE had a 7-5 edge in service aces. Along with Nott's three, Ella Warrick and Courtney Fitzgerald both posted an ace for Morehead State.
• SIUE had a 7-6 edge in total team blocks. Nott and Kylie Sharp tied with SIUE's Vienna Elliott tied for team honors with four blocks each.
• SIUE had a 61-58 edge in digs. Sophie Robinson of SIUE led the match with 13; Fitzgerald led MSU with 11.
