Holman to Run at Centre in OVC Tune-up

2/13/2026 5:27:00 PM

MOREHEAD, Ky. –  Last spring, six days before the Ohio Valley Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships, Morehead State senior Kaylyn Holman decided to add a late meet to her schedule as preparation for the championship meet.

She is doing the same thing this week, this time 10 days before the OVC Indoor Track & Field Championships, with the Centre Invitational Invite & Multis at Champions Hall in the Lisa H. Owens Fieldhouse in Danville, Ky. It is a two-day competition that will be scored. There are expected to be 20 teams entered. The site features a 200-meter flat track.

The meet will begin on Friday at 10 a.m. with the men's heptathlon and then on Saturday at 10 a.m. with five field events. The competition will feature a running clock with Saturday's first event on the track at noon.

Holman will run the mile on day two with the hope of improving her time and earning a bid to the fast heat in the event at the OVC meet. The mile will be the fifth race of the afternoon. She is the only Eagle slated to participate.

"We (want to go) over to Centre because we expect the others in the OVC to put up one more shot before the final week," MSU coach Clay Dixon said.

It is the first time Morehead State will ever compete at an indoor meet at Centre.

Holman enters the meet ranked 13th in the league and eighth all-time at MSU in the mile with a "pr" of 5:09.80, which she set three weeks ago at the PNC Bank Bellarmine Classic. She has also run the event three other times this winter, including at the Marshall Jewel City Invitational last week (5:12.22).

Live results can be accessed through the website www.DirectAthletics.com.

The OVC Indoor Track & Field Championships will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 24 and Wednesday, Feb. 25 at the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center in Louisville, Ky.
