MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Morehead State Beach Volleyball collected its first victory of the 2026 season Saturday morning, knocking off Liberty 4-1 at Grand Sands in Ohio. The Eagles moved to 1-2 on the season.
At No.1,
M.E. Hargan and
Bella Marita cruised to a 21-14, 21-10 win. The No. 2 match proved to be a barnburner, but
Sarah Heath and
Shea Hefner prevailed in three sets (21-8, 17-21, 15-10).
The fourth pair also found themselves in a battle.
Riley McCloskey and
Addie Freed persevered for a 23-21, 15-21, 17-15 marathon win. At No. 5,
Sydney Sennett and
Lily-Kate Carver nailed down a straight-set win, 21-12, 21-5.
Amelia Nott and
Haylee DePonte dropped their match at No. 3 in straight sets, but the exhibition match - with
Cady Hatch and
Logan Smith - Â did go in favor of the Eagles. MSU has now won all three of its exhibition matches this early season.
MSU returns to action at Noon for the final match at Grand Sands, versus Eastern Kentucky.Â
