Northern Kentucky Softball Doubleheader Postponed Until April 22

3/11/2026 4:04:00 PM

MOREHEAD, Ky. – Wednesday's scheduled softball doubleheader between Morehead State and Northern Kentucky in Highland Heights, Ky., has been postponed and reset for Wednesday, Apr. 22.

Morehead State (1/16/0-3) is coming off a three-game series against Eastern Illinois that ended with a doubleheader on Monday. The turnaround time to go back on the road and play again on Wednesday was one of the concerns for MSU Coach Megan Griffith.

"Weather is always a factor for spring in our area," she said. "Coach (Morgan) Gerak reached out to me during our EIU series and suggested we change dates due to the forecast. We landed on April 22nd for a single game at 4 p.m."

The original game times were to be 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.

The Eagles and NKU met four times last season, three of those meetings came in pre-conference season tournaments with a single game at the Norse's home, the Frank Ignatius Grein Softball Field. Northern Kentucky won all four contests.

Morehead State's next games will be on Saturday and Sunday at Ohio Valley Conference member SIU Edwardsville. The Eagles and the Cougars will square off at 1 p.m. ET and 3:30 p.m. ET on the first day and then at 1 p.m. ET on the second day. MSU next plays at home when it entertains Tennessee Tech on March 28-29.
