Dates Adjusted for Softball Series with Eastern Illinois

MOREHEAD, Ky. – This weekend's Morehead State-Eastern Illinois softball series at MSU's University Field has been moved from a doubleheader Saturday and a single game on Sunday to a single game on Sunday and a doubleheader on Monday. First pitch on Sunday will be at 2 p.m., with Monday's games times slated for noon at 2:30 p.m.

It will be both the home and Ohio Valley Conference opener for Morehead State (1-13), which finished the non-conference tournament portion of its schedule this past Sunday at the Eagle Hub City Classic in Hattiesburg, Miss.

Eastern Illinois (5-16) is the OVC's defending regular season and tournament champion, and swept the Eagles in three games in Charleston, Ill., last spring. The Panthers own a 56-24 series advantage.

As a team, Morehead State seen noticeable improvement in every area compared to this point last year. Its strikeout-to-walk ratio is up from -1.91 to +1.32, its batting average has gone from .247 to .275 and its fielding percentage has risen from .940 to .954.

MSU junior Ainsley Stubbs was named the OVC's co-Pitcher of the Week on Monday. She finished the weekend at the Eagle Hub City Classic with a 1-1 record, a 1.66 ERA, a 1.26 WHIP, with 13 strikeouts and seven walks in 12 and two-thirds innings, largely in relief.
