Morehead, Ky. -- Morehead State scored runs in bunches and came away with an 11-8 win over Butler at Grand Park in Westfield, Indiana.

Morehead State (7-8) broke open the game by putting up four runs in the sixth and another three runs in the seventh. Eagle second baseman
Nick Griffith led off the sixth with a single up the middle. Shortstop
Jaden Correa reached on an error and third baseman
Griffin Olson walked to load the bases.
JJ Dutton then walked to force Griffith home. After a balk scored Correa and moved the runners up, left fielder
Kyle Krupp cleared the bases with a two-run single and pushed Morehead State ahead 10-4.

The Eagles got things going again in the seventh, getting one-out, back-to-back-to-back home runs from Griffith, Correa and Olson. Morehead State plated a last run in the ninth when
Aubrey Kearns led off with a walk and scored on Correa's ground out.

Cole Wells (1-1) earned the win out of the bullpen for Morehead State. Wells threw four innings, allowing four runs on four hits. He walked two and struck our six Butler hitters. Morehead State freshman
Luke Hayes faced one batter in the ninth for his first collegiate save.

Alex Miller threw 4.2 innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on seven hits. He walked two and struck out six Bulldog batters.

The Eagles built an early 3-0 lead with a run in the first on Kearns' two-out RBI double. Olson led off the second with a double into left-center and stole third.
Austyn Peak was hit by a pitch. Catcher
Miller Murray brought Olson home with a bunt and Peak later scored on a wild pitch.

Butler (4-10) got three runs in the bottom of the second on second baseman Charlie Schebler's two-run home run and catcher Gunnar Duncan scored on a wild pitch by Miller. The Bulldogs scratched out another run in the fifth to take the lead 4-3 and set up the Eagle comeback. Butler hung four in the bottom of the ninth for the final margin.

Morehead State and Butler will wrap up the series Sunday at Grand Park. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. ET.
