MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Morehead State Beach Volleyball makes the short trek to Richmond, Ky., this week for the Eastern Kentucky Sand Fest. The Eagles face the host Colonels twice, as well as Liberty and Ottawa (Kan.).
The Eagles and Colonels serve up the event with a pair of matches Thursday at Noon ET. MSU faces Liberty at Noon Friday and Ottawa immediately after. Chattanooga is also in Richmond this week but will not face MSU.
MSU enters the week at 5-12 overall. EKU sports a 12-7 mark in 2026. Liberty, which classifies as a club program, enters with a 4-1 record. Ottawa, an NAIA school in Kansas, is 0-16 this year.
The Eagles dropped a 5-0 decision to EKU on opening weekend in Ohio this season. The Eagles upended Liberty 4-1 on that same weekend and are 5-0 all-time versus the Flames. It's the first ever meeting with Ottawa.
Sarah Heath and
Shea Hefner are the Eagles' most victorious pair this season. At No. 2 the duo is 6-2. With 11 wins, Hefner leads all Eagles in triumphs.
M.E. Hargan, who moved to No. 1 with
Bella Marita last weekend, has recorded 10 wins.
MSU will be off on the following weekend and then host OVC Weekend No. 2 on April 17-18.
