Eagle Baseball Swings Back into OVC Play to Host Lindenwood

The Morehead State baseball team gets back to Ohio Valley Conference play this weekend as the Eagles host Lindenwood at Allen Field at Prefontaine Park. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 Friday, 3:05 Saturday and 1:05 Sunday (All times Eastern). Sunday's game is scheduled to be aired on ESPN+. Airtime is set for 1:00 p.m. ET.
 
Morehead State and Lindenwood are tied with UT Martin for fifth place in the conference standings at 5-7.
 
The Eagles come into the series winners of their last two games. MSU downed Bellarmine 13-3 Tuesday night in Morehead. Aubrey Kearns paced the Eagle attack with two home runs and four runs batted in.
 
Sunday, Morehead State shortstop Jaden Correa provided some late fireworks with a two-run home run in the top of the ninth to power the Eagles to a 6-5 win to salvage the third game of the series with Southeast Missouri.
 
Lindenwood comes into Morehead off a series sweep over Western Illinois last weekend. While all three games were closely contested, the series finale Sunday was a 14-inning marathon with the Lions prevailing 3-2. Leadoff hitter Charlie Isom-McCall went 3-6 with a home run and scored the winning run.
 
The Lions ran their win streak to four games Tuesday with a 9-1 win at St. Louis. Lindenwood scored four runs in the seventh inning and three more in the ninth to break open a close game. Lion pitching combined to scatter eight hits, allowing an earned run. They walked four batters and struck out nine.

  • Catcher Caden Sheridan has thrown out 19 would-be base stealers this season, leading the OVC.
  • Friday's projected starter Callum McGill had a solid start last Friday at Southeast Missouri. He threw four innings allowing five hits and two runs. He walked three and struck out three. He got his first win of the season on April 2 against UT Martin.
  • Saturday's starter Kamden Hawks got his second win of the season April 3 against UT Martin. He scattered six hits, allowing four runs while walking just one and recording four strikeouts.
  • Sunday's starter freshman Connor Davis picked up his third win of the season against UT Martin on April 4th. He went six innings allowing four hits and two runs. He walked one batter and struck out one.
  • Devin Costa picked up his second win of the season Sunday at SEMO. He got the Eagles out of a jam getting the final out of the sixth inning and shut out the Redhawks over the final three innings, giving up two hits and notching a strikeout.
  • Freshman Cole Wells threw three hitless innings Sunday setting up MSU's win at SEMO. He's posted a 1.80 WHIP, second-lowest on the Eagle staff.
