RESULTS (MATCH 1 | MATCH 2)
MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Morehead State Beach Volleyball fell in a pair of 5-0 setbacks to Eastern Kentucky to open the EKU Sand Fest Thursday.
MSU slipped to 5-14 overall.
The opening match saw a pair of three-set decisions. At No. 1,
M.E. Hargan and
Bella Marita took a 1-0 lead after a 21-19 win in the first set over Molly Shomock and Riley Cutler, but the EKU fought back and won 21-17, 15-12.
At No. 4,
Sydney Sennett and
Logan Smith evened their match with a 21-14 set-two win but couldn't quite pull it off in the third, falling 15-13.
The nightcap saw Smith and Sennett also battle in a three-setter, but Zsa Zsa Ferguson and Sutton Sales prevailed 15-13 again to claim the win. At No. 5, :
Landyn Snowden and
Bailey Brashear (playing in her first career matches) also had a three-setter as they won their second frame 26-24. But an injury forced the match to end unfinished.
MSU closes the Sand Fest on Friday versus Liberty at Noon ET and Ottawa (Kan.) at 2 p.m.
