Eagle Baseball Gets Back to Action with a Pair of Midweek Games

Morehead, Ky. -- The Morehead State baseball gets returns to action with a pair of midweek non-conference games Tuesday and Wednesday. The Eagles host Marshall Tuesday at Sonny Allen Field in Prefontaine Park. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. ET. The game can be watched on ESPN+; airtime is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. ET.
 
Morehead State travels to Louisville Wednesday to visit Bellarmine. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. ET. The game is scheduled to be aired on ESPN+.
 
Morehead State comes into the game on a four-game winning streak after its sweep of Southern Indiana last weekend. The Eagles won a couple of tight ones, taking the first two games 4-3 and 6-5 Friday and Saturday. Sunday was a wild affair: the Eagles put up eight runs in the top of the third and held off the Screaming Eagles 17-13.
 
Marshall comes into Morehead on a two-game skid after getting shut out against Troy 1-0 Sunday at Jack Cook Field in Huntington. The Herd took the series opener against Troy Friday 7-4.
 
Morehead State and Marshall met last Tuesday at Jack Cook Field last Wednesday in Huntington. The Eagles pounded out 18 hits en route to an 11-2 win. Davis Germann led the MSU offense going 5-6 at the plate with a double and four runs batted in.
 
Ethan Davis threw five and a third shutout innings allowing just two hits and striking out three Marshall batters.
 
Bellarmine was swept last weekend by Central Arkansas at Knights Field capped by a 6-3 loss Sunday.
 
Bellarmine visited Morehead State on April 14. The Eagles pounded out 14 hits en route to a 13-3 win in seven innings. Aubrey Kearns led the Eagles with two home runs and four runs batted in. Jaden Correa was 3-3 at the plate with a triple Davis Germann was 2-4 with a double.

  • Davis Germann is riding a five-game hitting streak and has hit safely in nine of the last 10 games. He hit 20-44 in the last 10 games (.455).
  • Germann had a big game last Wednesday against Marshall, going 5-6 with a double and four RBI. Germann has 19 multi-hits games this season, the second-highest total on the team after Kearns' 21.
  • Caden Sheridan has the longest current hitting streak on the team at six games. He's gone 11-24 (.458) at the plate in that span.
  • Sheridan has thrown out 19 would-be base stealers this season, the most in the OVC.
  • Freshman outfielder Kyle Krupp has stolen 22 bases in 32 tries, tied for second-most in the OVC.
  • Devin Costa picked up two wins this past weekend against Southern Indiana. He threw a scoreless ninth inning to keep the Eagles within a run. The Eagles came back with two runs in the bottom of the ninth including a rare walk-off balk to win.  Sunday, he threw a scoreless fifth inning allowing just one hit, setting up the Eagle victory.
