Morehead, Ky. -- Morehead State Women's Basketball has announced the signing of twin sisters Courtney and Heidi Smith to join the program next season.

The natives of London, Ontario, come to Morehead State after a season at Montana State. Both began their collegiate careers at Toledo; they both redshirted in the 2024-25 season before joining the Missouri State program.

"I had the opportunity coach Courtney and Heidi at Toledo," said Eagle head coach Jackie Alexander. "They are both relentless workers with untapped potential. I'm looking forward to getting them both on campus and getting started."

Courtney appeared in 27 games last season, averaging 9.1 minutes, 1.4 points and 0.9 rebounds per game. She posted a season-high nine points against Sacramento State (1/29). Her four rebounds against Weber State (1/24) was her season high. She was also named an All-Big Sky Academic honoree.

"I'm excited to continue my basketball journey at Morehead State because it gives me the opportunity to grow both as a player and a person in a competitive program," said Courtney. "A big reason for my decision is the strong connections I already have with the coaching staff.  Coach Jackie was my assistant coach at Toledo, and Coach Nan was also my teammate at Toledo. I also love the family atmosphere at Morehead and can't wait to be a part of that culture! I'm so grateful for this opportunity!"

"Courtney's ability to impact the game on both ends of the floor will directly impact winning," said Alexander. "Heidi's ability to get downhill along with her defensive versatility will make an immediate impact on our program," she added.

Heidi appeared in seven games before injury cut her season short. She averaged 17.1 minutes, 5.1 points and one rebound per game for the Bobcats, hitting 53% from the floor. She scored 16 points in the season-opener against Carroll (MT) on November 4, hitting eight of ten from the floor.

"I chose Morehead State because of the relationship I built with Coach Jackie and Coach Nan," said Heidi. They are both amazing people and truly dedicated to a winning culture. With the time we spent together at the university of Toledo, it was an easy decision to come play for Coach Jackie again. I believe in the coaching staff, they have such a great approach to teaching the game."

"I also really enjoyed the support at Morehead State," she added. "The university prioritizes connections and building relationships which is super valuable to me. I cannot wait to play for Morehead State and I am so grateful for this opportunity!"
