MOREHEAD, Ky. – Morehead State Athletics is excited to announce the addition of Lauren and Jeff Curley to lead the sports medicine department. The husband-wife team both have strong ties to MSU, having served as athletic trainers for the Eagles in the 1990s.
Lauren will serve as Head Athletic Trainer, with primary sport coverage for football, while Jeff will be Associate Athletic Trainer with primary team coverage for the men's basketball program. Both are at MSU through a contract partnership with the University of Kentucky Healthcare program, and both come to MSU after recent roles at the University of Pikeville and Kentucky Christian University.
"MSU holds a lot of warm memories for me, and I'm proud to return to the MSU family as Head Athletic Trainer," she said. "My goal, first and foremost, is the health and well-being of all student athletes. I feel that MSU has a strong sports medicine program, and I hope to continue to grow it to where our athletes have access to the best care possible. Sko Eags."

Lauren, MS, LAT, ATC, was the Director of Sports Medicine and Senior Woman Leader at Pikeville since 2022. She earned the Appalachian Athletic Conference Athletic Trainer of the Year in 2023-24.
Her ties to MSU go back to her stint as a graduate assistant athletic trainer from 1993-95.
Lauren served as Head Athletic Trainer at KCU for six years and was on the staff in Grayson, Ky., for a total of 11 years through a partnership with King's Daughter's Medical Center.
From 2005-11, Lauren was a Senior Outreach Athletic Trainer for ProMedica Health System in Toledo, Ohio. With ProMedica, she also served at Madison High School (1999-2004) and Siena Heights University (2004-05) in Michigan.
From 1996-99, Lauren was an Assistant Athletic Trainer at Bradley University. She began her sports medicine career at MSU after graduating from Wilmington College in Ohio in 1993. She earned her Master's Degree in exercise science from MSU.
She is certified by the National Athletic Trainer's Association Board of Certification since 1995 and is also certified by the Kentucky Board of Medical Licensure.
Jeff, MA, LAT, ATC, returns to the Eagles after serving as Assistant Athletic Trainer from 1991-95. He comes to the Eagles after a stint as Assistant Director of Sports Medicine at Pikeville as well.
Prior to Pikeville, he taught athletic training and exercise science at Shawnee State in Ohio. He also served as Head Athletic Trainer at KCU from 2011-16, through King's Daughters.
Jeff was at Lourdes College in 2010-11 following a six-year tenure at Bowling Green, covering the hockey team.
He served at Adrian College in Michigan for five years and was an Athletic Trainer for Eureka College in Illinois for five years.
Curley received his Master's Degree in physical education, exercise and sports science in 1995 from North Carolina, where he also served as a graduate assistant from 1989-1991. He earned his bachelor's degree from Whittier College in California in 1989.
He has been certified by the National Athletic Trainer's Association Board of Certification since 1989 and is licensed by the Kentucky Board of Medical Licensure.
The couple have two children, Adam and Morgan.
