Morehead, Ky. -- The Morehead State baseball team opens its Ohio Valley Conference Tournament taking on Southern Indiana Tuesday at Mt. Dew Park in Marion, Illinois. First pitch will be 60 minutes following the Lindenwood/UT Martin contest, which is now set for 1 p.m. ET. The entire tournament will be aired on ESPN+.

Morehead State heads into the postseason riding a seven-game winning streak after its sweep of Tennessee Tech last week in Cookeville. In the opener Thursday, the Eagles hung up five runs in the third inning and outlasted Tech 7-4.

Friday, Morehead State edged Tech 4-3 as Eagle pitching scattered six hits in a bullpen effort from the staff. In the series finale Saturday, the Eagles broke a 6-6 tie with a run in the top of the ninth and held on for a 7-6 win over the Golden Eagles.

Morehead State swept Southern Indiana in three tight games in their series in late April in Morehead. In the opener,
Ian McCubbin blasted a home run in the bottom of the eighth inning to boost MSU to a 4-3 win.

In the second game of the series, Morehead State took a 6-5 win on a rare walk-off balk in the bottom of the ninth. The series finale was a classic Allen Field slugfest: Morehead State hung up eight runs in the bottom of the first inning and hung on for a 17-13 win over the Screaming Eagles.

- Morehead State finished the season on a seven-game winning streak and won 13 of its last 15 games. In the last four conference weekends, the Eagles posted a 10-2 record. The Eagles improved their win total by 17 games over last season.
- Morehead State finished the season second in the OVC in most offensive categories: batting average (.309), runs (415), hits (580) home runs (82), and doubles (105).
- MSU posted a 22-5 record when holding its opponents to six runs or less this season. The Eagles were 28-10 when their opponents scored eight run or less this season.
- When the Eagles out-hit their opponents this season, they posted a 23-5 record.
- Aubrey Kearns led Morehead State in batting average (.383, 4th in OVC), runs batted in (58, 5th in OVC), and a 1.087 OPS (3rd in the OVC)
- Kearns led Morehead State with 26 multiple-hit games. He comes into the tournament riding an eight-game hitting streak.
- Outfielder Ian McCubbin ranked second on the team hitting .368. His 13 home runs leads the Eagles and ranks eighth in the OVC.
- McCubbin had a hot April, going 28-69 (.406) raising his average 51 points in the month to .366, He piled up seven home runs, four doubles and triple and drove in 23 runs.
- Davis Germann is third on the team hitting .341. His 18 doubles lead the club and ranks tied for second-most in the OVC. He has hit safely in eight of the last nine game a comes into Marion on a 16-game reached base streak.
- Germann has hit in the leadoff spot the last 15 games and in 16 games in total this season. He is hitting .393 with a 1.208 OPS when hitting in the top spot in the order. When leading off an inning this season, he has hit .509 (29-57).
- Jaden Correa ranks fourth on the team hitting .320. He is tied with Kearns and Caden Sheridan with 12 home runs, which is tied for ninth in the OVC. His 47 home runs are third-most on the club.
- Catcher Caden Sheridan has thrown out 21 would-be base stealers this season, the most in the OVC.
- Senior third baseman Griffin Olson has hit safely in the last four games and five of the last six and hits the OVC tournament hitting .318. He leads the team with 34 walks, tied for sixth in the OVC.
- Olson had a nice series against Southern Indiana in late April: he went 7-13 at the plate with two doubles, a triple and three runs batted in.
- Freshman outfielder Kyle Krupp leads Morehead State with 24 stolen bases in 34 attempts, ranking fourth in the OVC. His .315 batting average ranks sixth on the club and is in the top five for freshmen in the OVC. He has started 45 of MSU's games this season.
- Probable starter Callum McGill picked up his third win of the season last Thursday at Tennessee Tech. Throwing three innings in a bullpen game, he allowed just three hits and a walk.
- McGill also picked up the win in his previous start against Western Illinois. He went into the seventh inning giving up five runs on eight hits and struck out five WIU batters.
- Landon Waugh picked up the win last Friday at Tech, throwing two innings allowing a run on a hit and a walk.
- Waugh sparkled in his previous start with a complete game win over Western Illinois. He scattered seven hits allowing three runs while walking two and setting a career-high with nine strikeouts in Morehead State's notoriously hitter-friendly ballpark.
- Devin Costa leads the MSU staff with five wins against one defeat and three saves. His 25 appearances is also the most on the staff. He can also close out an inning: opponents have hit .200 (13-65) with two outs.
- Freshman Cole Wells earned his first two collegiate saves last week at Tech. In two shutout innings pitched, he allowed two walks and struck out one.
