Morehead, Ky. -- The Morehead State baseball team's season ended Tuesday as the Eagles fell to Southern Indiana 6-2 in the opening round of the Ohio Valley Conference tournament at Mt. Dew Park in Marion, Illinois.

Trailing 3-0, Morehead State (31-24) got a run back in the bottom of the second on a towering blast by first baseman
Alex Kean over the wall in right center estimated to have traveled some 450 feet.

The Eagles plated another run in the third inning. With two outs,
Griffin Olson reached on a looping liner to right and stole second base. Olson scored on
Aubrey Kearns' single to shallow left to cut the USI lead to 3-2.

Southern Indiana (28-27) got a run in the top of the first inning to take the early lead. Left fielder Hunter Miller led off with a single through the left side and advanced to second on a bunt single by center fielder Khi Holiday. After advancing to third on a fielder's choice, Miller scored on another ground ball in the infield.

The Screaming Eagles tacked on two more runs in the second. Right fielder Noah Foster drew a two-out walk and scored on second baseman Zion Stephens' triple to deep left center. Stephens scored on Miller's single into center to give USI a 3-0 lead.

Morehead State starter
Callum McGill (3-1) took the loss. He threw three and two-thirds innings allowing three runs (all earned) on five hits and two walks.

Ethan Davis threw two and one-third innings allowing three runs (all earned) on three hits and a walk.

USI starter Ryan Weller (4-5) earned the win throwing seven strong innings. He scattered five hits, allowing both Eagle runs. He walked two batters and struck out seven MSU hitters.

Southern Indiana added three runs in the top of the sixth. Clayton Slack led off with a single to center and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt. Slack scored on Parker Martin's double into the left center field gap. Foster cleared the bases with a liner over the fence in the left field to expand the Screaming Eagle lead to 6-2.

Devin Costa pitched the final three innings, allowing just two hits and posting three strikeouts.
