Morehead, Ky. -- The Morehead State women's basketball team continues to fill out the roster adding Akron, Ohio, native Lanae Riley for the 2026-27 season.

A grad transfer, Riley most recently played at Akron for two seasons after spending her freshman season at Middle Tennessee. Injury cut short her 2024-25 season: she appeared in just six games. Riley appeared in 29 games in the 2023-24 campaign, making 13 starts, averaging 8.3 points and 3.8 rebounds in 21.6 minutes per game.

She shot 46.9% from the floor, including hitting 27 of her 63 three-point attempts for a 42.9% shooting percentage behind the arc. She shot 75% (31-41) from the free throw line.

"Lanae is an exceptional young woman who has continued to grow throughout her collegiate journey, and we are excited to provide her with another opportunity to reach her full potential at Morehead State," said Morehead State head coach Jackie Alexander.

"Her size, versatility, and ability to impact the game in multiple ways make her a tremendous addition to our program. We believe Lanae's best basketball is still ahead of her, and we're excited to help her continue her development while competing for championships in an Eagle uniform, added Alexander"

A two-time First Team All-Ohio selection, Riley averaged 21 points and nine rebounds per game her senior season, leading Archbishop Hoban High School to an undefeated regular season and was a finalist for Ohio Ms. Basketball,

Her junior season she averaged 22.1 points and 8.9 rebounds per game as Hoban advanced all the way to the Division 1 state semifinals.

"I chose Morehead State University because of the coaching staff and the way they believed in me from the very beginning," said Riley "Their support, honesty, and confidence in what I can bring both on and off the court made this decision feel right. Throughout the process, they made me feel valued as a player and as a person, and that meant a lot to me. I'm grateful for the opportunity to continue my basketball career with people who truly believe in my potential and talents. I'm excited for this next chapter and everything ahead."
