Volleyball Falls to EKU in Final Preseason Tune-up

8/22/2026 4:26:00 PM

Richmond, Ky. -- The Morehead State volleyball team wrapped up its exhibition schedule falling to Eastern Kentucky 3-0 (13-25, 19-25, 25-23) Saturday at Baptist Health Arena in Richmond, Kentucky.

Eagle head coach Kyrsten Becker-McBride utilized multiple lineups and different starting rotations in each set in the final preseason tune-up and heavily featured underclassmen in the rotations.

"The point of playing these exhibition games is to see different lineups and see where we can get better," said Eagle head coach Kyrsten Becker-McBride. "We told the players that we were going to stick with the lineups for each set that we had set before the match."

The Eagles' attack was led by Amelia Nott with seven kills in two sets played. Hollan Everett and Mary Rindler added six apiece and Haydyn Carter added five terminations.

"Eastern plays a really fast tempo, and I think that's the first time some of our pins have seen that," said Becker-McBride. "I thought Josie (Certa) set the ball well she was really consistent with her location. Courtney (Fitzgerald) did a great job of just cleaning things up and passed very well. Amelia hit it well too."

Morehead State opens the season Friday when it squares off with Fairfield in the opener of the Tennessee Tournament in the Food City Center in Knoxville, Tennessee. First serve is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. ET.  No media coverage is scheduled for the match.
