MOREHEAD, Ky. – Downed by a quick score, Morehead State Soccer fell to Chattanooga, 2-1, at MSU Soccer Field on Sunday.

The Eagles entered Sunday's contest with a five game home unbeaten streak. The streak included four straight wins following a tie at the end of the 2025 season before falling to Chattanooga.

"I'm obviously disappointed to lose, first and foremost," said Head Coach Paul Cox. "Ultimately, I said to the girls, 'We have to start aggressive.' You take our last four games: We started aggressive versus Mercyhurst, we take the lead. We started aggressive against NKU, we take the lead. We started poorly against EKU, we went one-nil down. We started aggressively against Cleveland State, we take the lead. So, it was really important for us to stay on our front foot early, and we hit the bar twice. We started the second half slowly; they won more first and second balls. Both goals were preventable, really easy to fix, something we spoke about a couple weeks ago. Tired minds create bad habits."

The Eagles kicked off Sunday's contest at 1:00 p.m. ET., their third of four straight home games. 

The first half was incredibly even, with Morehead State winning the possession battle 53-47 percent. 

MSU's best scoring opportunity of the first half came off the foot of sophomore Charlotte Lee. Lee launched a shot from just outside the box near the right corner, sending the ball across the goal and off the left post.

The Eagles and Mocs battled throughout the first half, but the score remained tied at 0-0 heading into halftime. Chattanooga led Morehead State in shots, 9-4, but the Mocs recorded the only two shots on goal.

Coming out of halftime, the seesawing defensive battle continued, with just three combined shots through the first 13 minutes, none of which were on target.

At 58:09, Chattanooga sophomore Quinn Johnson was taken down in the box by an Eagle defender, resulting in a penalty kick. Johnson converted the opportunity, sneaking the shot into the bottom-right corner of the net to put the Mocs on the board, 1-0.

Just three minutes and 15 seconds later, Natalie Lentine slipped a pass to Jade Walton at the penalty arc. Walton fired the ball into the top-right corner of the net, tying the game at 1-1.

Walton's goal was her third goal of the season, converting three of her eight shots on goal. 

"Jade man, what a strike and a great goal," Cox added. 

Just 71 seconds later, Johnson took the ball down near the end line and delivered a perfect pass to Mocs sophomore Emma Reaves, who slipped it past Allie Lammers to put Chattanooga ahead 2-1 in the 62nd minute.

The final 28 minutes resulted in terrific defense from Chattanooga, aiding a final score of 2-1, helping the Mocs improve to 4-1-2. As for the Eagles, they fell to 4-4 on the season.

The Mocs led in shots 21-9 and shots on goal 6-1. Both teams finished with four corner kicks, and Lammers recorded the only saves of the contest with four.

The Eagles stay at home Thursday, preparing for their final home game of their non-conference schedule, as they welcome Indiana State to Morehead for an 8 P.M. ET. kickoff.
