Kylan Butler

Kylan Butler, a former standout at the University of Arizona, is in his third season on the Morehead State football coaching staff as the wide receivers coach. Butler has also been elevated to associate head coach.

Butler most recently served as the offensive coordinator/wideouts coach at Glenville (W.Va.) State in 2018, while coaching the running backs in 2017. In 2018, Butler coached First-Team All-MEC Javon Butler, who led the MEC in yards per game (116.4 per game). In 2017, Butler coached running back Dominique Gibson, who finished ranked second in rushing in the MEC and was named Second-Team All-MEC. Butler recruited northern West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Washington D.C and the northern California junior colleges while at Glenville.

Prior to his arrival at Glenville State, Butler spent three seasons (2014-17) at his alma mater on Rich Rodriguez’s staff at the Arizona and also coached at Pueblo High School in Tucson, Ariz., for a brief period of time. As an offensive graduate assistant, he worked with the receivers while assisting with all facets of the offense and recruiting, specifically Nevada, northern and southern California. As part of Rodriguez’s staff, Butler was a part of two bowl teams and one division championship team: 2014 New Mexico Bowl (Champions), 2014 Pac-12 Southern Division (Champions); Arizona finished ranked 13th nationally and playing in the 2014 BCS Vizio Fiesta Bowl that season.

A native of Antioch, Calif., and a graduate of stellar prep program De La Salle High School, Butler played in 35 career games as a running back and on special teams under Mike Stoops and Rich Rodriguez at Arizona. He was a part of four bowl teams: 2013 AdvoCare V100 Bowl (Champions), 2012 Gildan New Mexico Bowl (Champions), Alamo Bowl (2010), and Holiday Bowl (2009). He was a founding member and vice president of Arizona’s chapter of Uplifting Athletes, an organization dedicated to raising funds and awareness in support of the Rare Disease Community and also was a member of Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

Butler earned his Bachelor's Degree in Social Behavior and Human Understanding in May 2013 and earned his Master's Degree in Educational Psychology in December 2016.
