Wes McDermott

Recruiting areas:  Kentucky (West-Central & West Louisville) / Maine / Massachusetts / New Hampshire / North Dakota / Ohio (Northeastern) / South Dakota / Vermont

Wes McDermott, a linebacker at Morehead State from 2006-09, is in his third season as an assistant coach.  He works with the Eagle defensive backs.

McDermott was a three-time All-Pioneer Football League selection and an academic award recipient several times in his career.  In 2009, he was tabbed as the PFL’s Defensive Player of the Year and an Associated Press Third-Team Football Championship Subdivision All-American.

He finished his Morehead State career with 316 tackles, including 48 tackles for loss.  Upon graduation, McDermott ranked 19th in FCS history in TFLs and 24th in TFLs per game.

After graduation, McDermott spent time with three teams in the Indoor Football League -- the La Crosse (Wis.) Spartans, Cedar Rapids (Iowa) Titans and Allen (Texas) Wranglers.

During the summers of 2011 and 2012, McDermott worked individually with high school athletes at Personal Trainers World in Cincinnati.  McDermott is a 2006 graduate of Holy Cross High School in Louisville.  He earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing from MSU in 2010.
