Cason Burk

Cason Burk, who possesses more than 10 years coaching Division I, finished his first year on the Morehead State men's basketball staff as assistant coach in 2022-23.

He helped guide the Eagles to the program's third straight 20+ win season and the first outright OVC regular-season title in 39 seasons. Burk helped mentor Mark Freeman, who earned OVC Player of the Year, as well as OVC Defensive Player of the Year Alex Gross. 

Burk had been the associate head coach at Jackson State since 2012 and was a graduate assistant there in 2011-12.

Burk helped JSU to a SWAC regular season title in 2020-21, being named as one of the top assistants in the SWAC by Stadium Insider. 

Burk also played for Jackson State as a student-athlete from 2008-11. In 2010, he helped the Tigers to a 17-1 conference mark and a SWAC title. He led the league in rebounding that season as well.

He attended Provine High School in Jackson, Miss., earning class Salutatorian.

Burk earned his Bachelor's Degree from JSU in 2010 and completed his Master's Degree there in 2012.
