Alexa Alfaro is in her second season as an assistant softball coach, and first as lead assistant.
In 2017, she helped lead Morehead State to a 26-22 record, marking their first winning season since 2010. Sophomore Allison Rager and junior Kylie Holton were named First Team All-OVC, while junior Chelsea McManaway was named to the All-Newcomer team. McManaway was twice named OVC Player of the Week, while Rager and Holton also earned OVC Player of the Week honors.
Prior to MSU, Alfaro served as the head coach for the 18u Bartlett Silver Hawks softball organization. With the Silver Hawks, she tutored her players in the college recruiting process.
In 2015, she was a student assistant at the University of Indianapolis. She helped lead the Greyhounds to a regional championship and a trip to the Division II College World Series. At the conclusion of the season, the U Indy coaching staff was named Midwest Region Coaching Staff of the Year.
From 2012-14, Alfaro batted .296 with 102 RBI in 173 games at Division II school University of Indianapolis. Prior to Indianapolis, Alfaro played one season at Ohio Valley member UT Martin.
Alfaro earned a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from Indianapolis in 2014. She graduated cum laude and was a member of the Dean’s List as a senior.
A Bolingbrook, Ill. native, Alfaro was named female athlete of the year as a senior at Bolingbrook High School. She was also named team MVP as a sophomore and senior and earned an All-Area First Team nod as a senior.
