Dominique Duck, a Pittsburgh, Pa. native, enters her fifth year on staff for the Morehead State Women's Basketball program and in her third year as the Eagles' Associate Head Coach after being promoted to the position prior to the 2018-19 season.
During her time at Morehead State, Duck has helped the women's basketball program see an unparalleled amount of success with having won more than 20 games during each of her first three years while also making two postseason appearances in the Women's National Invitational Tournament. The former Western Kentucky Lady Topper basketball standout has been vital in the recruitment and development of student-athletes in the program, having coached three players to First Team All-OVC and two others to Second Team All-OVC status.
In 2018-19, her first season as the Associate Head Coach, Duck assisted in guiding the Eagles to a modern-era record 24 wins and the team's second appearance ever in the Women's National Invitational Tournament. During the 2019 WNIT, Morehead State scored a monumental upset by defeating Big Ten power Ohio State in the first round to score the school's first-ever postseason victory.
Duck's second season, in 2017-18, saw the Eagles win 21 games and rank among the national NCAA leaders in several stats categories, highlighted by scoring, rebounding and blocked shots.
In her first season at Morehead State, Duck helped guide the Eagles to a 21-10 record under head coach Greg Todd. The Eagles reached the 20-win plateau for the seventh time in school history, resulting in the program's first ever appearance in the Women's National Invitation Tournament. 2016-17 also featured a nine-game winning streak – the second-longest in school history – and the team's first invitation to a national postseason tournament since 2009-10.
Duck came to Morehead State after spending a season as an assistant coach at Chowan University (N.C.). She helped lead the Hawks to their first 20-win season, along with their first trip to the CIAA Final Four since 2012. At Chowan, she was responsible for organizing and overseeing all on-court workouts, preparing scouting reports and game plans, arranging team travel and meals, and developing post players, including Alisha Mobley, a member of the 2016 All-CIAA Team and All-CIAA Tournament Team.
Prior to her year with the Hawks, Duck was a head coach and an assistant coach at various levels, including grade school, high school and AAU, from 2011 to 2015. In 2010-11. she served as a graduate assistant at Slippery Rock University (Pa.).
Duck played at Western Kentucky from 2006-10 and is a member of the 1,000-point club. She is also a member of the prestigious All-Diddle Arena Team, which recognizes the top ten Lady Toppers in the 50-year history of Diddle Arena. In 2008, she was named Sun Belt Tournament MVP as she helped lead the Lady Toppers to a Sun Belt Tournament title and their first trip to the NCAA Tournament since 2003.
Duck graduated from WKU in 2010 with a bachelor's degree in communications and an athletic coaching minor.
