Bingy Lara, who is in his third season as a member of the soccer coaching staff at Morehead State, has recently been promoted to primary assistant. He works with the offense and day-to-day operations.
This season, the Eagles won eight of their last 11 regular season matches and advanced to the OVC Tournament as the no. 2 seed. MSU defeated Austin Peay 4-2 in the semifinal, before knocking off defending champion UT Martin 1-0 on its home field to give the program its first title during Lara's tenure.
The Las Cruces, N.M., native is studying for his Master’s degree in Counseling.
Lara played his collegiate soccer for the University of Kentucky from 2005-2008 and graduated in 2008 with a degree in Psychology. Lara played in 47 career games, totaling eight points, including two goals and four assists, and was named a 2008 Southeastern Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll selection.
Lara served as a student assistant coach for the Kentucky men’s soccer team during the 2009 and 2010 seasons.
Lara played his club soccer for the New Mexico Striker F.C. and graduated from Las Cruces High School.
