Jason McCown

An experienced leader who has helped guide teams to winning marks on the court and off-the-court success as well, Jason McCown is in his third season on the Morehead State Volleyball staff as assistant coach.

In his first season, he helped lead the Eagles to 18 wins and an upper echelon finish in the OVC standings. During the 2024 season, he helped the Eagles to the NCAA Tournament.

McCown came to MSU after five successful seasons at Montevallo (Ala.) where he was elevated to Associate Head Coach in 2021.  He helped guide the Falcons to a 93-52 (.641 winning percentage) overall mark in five years and a 47-22 record in the Gulf South Conference.

McCown also had coaching stints at Texas Woman's University, Olivet (Mich.), and Northern Illinois. McCown served the 2017-18 season as a graduate assistant at Texas Woman's. In his lone season, the Pioneers finished as runners-up finish in the Lone Star Conference Tournament.
 
Prior to his stint in Texas, McCown was an assistant for men's and women's volleyball at Olivet during the 2016-17 season.
 
At his alma mater, Northern Illinois, McCown volunteered as an assistant during the 2013 and 2014 seasons.  He received his bachelor's degree in physical education from NIU in 2015.
 
McCown also spent several years coaching high school and club volleyball in his home state of Illinois. He was assistant coach for the boys' team at Lake Park High School and assistant coach for the girls' team at Benet Academy.
 
McCown played collegiate volleyball at Illinois State, College of DuPage (Ill.) and Northern Illinois.  He was a 2-time NCVF Division I-AA National Champion with DuPage in 2009 and 2010.  At NIU, he was a Midwest-10 All-Conference selection in 2012 and 2013.
