Mallory Borden was hired in July of 2026 to serve as the next head coach of the Eagle softball program.

Borden, a native of Jacksonville, Fla., took her first head coaching assignment after a season as assistant coach at Georgia State where she helped mentor three All-Sun Belt Conference selections.

Borden transitioned to Georgia State following the 2024-25 year as the director of athletics at Middleburg (Fla.) High School, near her hometown. 

Borden's longest-tenured position came at Elon, where she served as assistant coach in 2018 before earning a promotion to associate head coach from 2019-23. She coached a plethora of all-conference caliber athletes and the CAA Defensive Player of the Year and NFCA Mid-Atlantic All-Region honorees.

Borden served as volunteer assistant coach at College of Charleston in 2017, helping the Cougars' offense bat better than .300.

Borden began her foray into softball leadership as a coach and educator at her alma mater, Trinity Christian Academy, in Jacksonville. Her softball team won a district and regional championship and advanced to the state semifinals in 2016.

As a student-athlete, Borden was a four-year letterwinner at Florida State University from 2009-12. A team captain and leadership council member, she helped lead the Seminoles to an ACC Championship, four NCAA Tournament appearances, and 167 victories during her career.

She began her collegiate playing career at Santa Fe Community College in 2008, earning First-Team Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-South Region, Third-Team NFCA All-America, First-Team All-Conference, and Second-Team All-State honors. She helped lead the program to a No. 2 national ranking and was later inducted into the school's Athletic Hall of Fame.

Borden was a Dean's List student and earned her bachelor's degree in sociology and social science from Florida State in 2012. She also served as a law enforcement officer with the FSU police department.
