Junior guard Angelo Warner of the men's basketball team has been named this week’s Male Pepsi Student-Athlete of the Week.
It is the second straight honor for Warner and the fourth of the season for the men's basketball team.
The Orlando native was named Ohio Valley Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week by College Sports Madness, as he knocked down 50 percent (12-of-24) from the field and 81 percent (13-of-16) from the free-throw line last week when he played a team-high 77 minutes.Â
Warner, a 6-foot-2 guard, tallied 19 points, eight assists, seven rebounds and four steals in Monday's victory over Horizon League member Wright State. He then posted 20 points, four assists, four boards and two thefts in Wednesday's setback to Conference USA foe Southern Mississippi.
He ranks among the conference leaders in steals (2nd, 2.6), minutes played (3rd, 35.2), scoring (6th, 17.7), free-throw percentage (8th, .787), three-point field goals made (T-9th, 1.7) and assists (11th, 3.3). He currently leads Morehead State in nine statistical categories.
