MOREHEAD, Ky--
Morehead State is just two wins away from finishing the first half of its Ohio Valley Conference schedule with only a single blemish. Unfortunately, both of MSU’s opponents are at the top of the OVC standings and earning the two wins won’t be an easy task.

The first of the two opponents is Eastern Illinois. The Panthers, picked fourth in the preseason, which is where they currently are in the standings at 10-7 overall and 4-3 in league play. Tip-off Saturday will be at 4:30 p.m. following the women’s game.

Five Morehead State players reached double digits against SEMO, led by Maze Stallworth’s 13 points and #Kenneth Faried’s 12 points and 16 rebounds. Sam Goodman scored a career-high 10 points and Jamel Marshall# saw his first signifcant action, tallying six points and five boards. Faried averages 15.7 points and 12.9 rebounds to lead the Eagles. Demonte Harper averages 12.6 points and Stallworth is at 11.4 points per game.

Tyler Laser, a preseason All-Conference selection, leads the Panthers with 14.8 points per game and he ranks 10th in scoring in the OVC. Jeremy Granger averages 9.3 points per game and Ousmane Cisse leads EIU in rebounding with 6.5 per game. Romain Martin, also a preseason All-Conference selection has struggled this season after missing the first six weeks of the season. He currently averages 5.0 points per game.

The Panthers have non-conference wins over Western Illinois, Belmont, Chicago State and Toledo. Their four wins over OVC opponents have come at the expense of Tennessee State (in triple overtime), Jacksonville State, Tennessee Tech (in overtime) and SEMO. They have lost to Murray State, Eastern Kentucky and Austin Peay, all teams ahead of EIU in the standings.

After Saturday, MSU will host future OVC foe SIU-Edwardsville Tuesday before closing out the first half of the League docket at arch rival EKU.
