Former Eagle Defensive Tackle Derik Steiner Signs With Green Bay Blizzard

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Former Eagle defensive tackle Derik Steiner has signed with the Green Bay Blizzard of the Indoor Football League, the club announced last week.

The Blizzard are located in Green Bay, Wis., and play in the North Central division in the United Conference of the IFL. The IFL was created in 2009 and consisted of 19 teams and in 2010 the league expanded to 25 teams. The Blizzard won their division last year and advanced to the playoffs with a 10-4 record.

“I look forward to the opportunity of continuing my football career; this will be a good first step for me in my ultimate goal of playing in the National Football League,” said Steiner. “The Green Bay Blizzard have a competitive team, in a competitive league and I can’t wait for the challenge.”

The Mason, Ohio native was a two-time First Team All-PFL performer during his career at MSU. He finished his career with 146 career tackles, 41 of those for loss. He also sacked the quarterback 10 times in his Eagle career. Steiner finished 11th in the PFL in tackles for loss per game with 1.23 which also ranked him 45th in FCS in 2009, his senior season.
