Note: A memorial service will be held for George A. Sadler, Sunday, April 18, 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 123 East Main Street in Morehead. The community is invited to attend the service and reception that will follow in the Fellowship Hall.
MOREHEAD, Ky. -- George A. Sadler, former associate professor of health, physical education and recreation and tennis coach at Morehead State University, died Monday, April 5. He was 91.
MSU paid tribute to Sadler as the outdoor tennis courts were named in his honor in 1992.
He also served as a coach at Munfordville and Hiseville high schools and Campbellsville College.
A WWII Army veteran, he earned his bachelor's and master's degrees from Western Kentucky University.
He is survived by his wife, Laura Elizabeth Sadler; children, Dr. Nancy Sue Corbett, Laura Jean Sadler-Harperink (George), John Cad Sadler (Teresa), Sally Anne Tisdale (Eric). Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, April 8, Westport Road Baptist Church, 9705 Westport Road, Louisville, with entombment in Louisville Memorial Gardens East.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 7 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 235 Juneau Drive, Middletown.
