MOREHEAD, Ky. - Don Adams, who served as Morehead State football's videographer for the past several years, passed away at his home on Sunday.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 7 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. with the funeral service to follow at Northcutt and Sons Home for Funerals in Morehead. Burial will be in the Forest Lawn Columbarium.
“Don’s passing is a great loss, not only for Morehead State football but for the community at large for all the areas in which Don served. He was a gentleman and he and his wife Darlene made a tremendous impact on our young people. Don was a dear friend and we will miss him greatly. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Darlene and all his family and friends," said MSU football coach Matt Ballard.
The following is an excerpt of Adams' obituary from Northcutt and Sons.
Born June 13, 1947, in Bowling Green, Ky., he is the son of Fred Adams of Bowling Green and the late Winona Ferguson Adams.
Don is also survived by his wife of 40 years, Darlene Pinkerton Adams, and two children, Kevin Adams and Kim Adams, of Morehead.
Adams was a graduate of Bowling Green High School and attended Western Kentucky University. While residing in Bowling Green, Don had been a security guard at the Corvette Plant, Director of Medical Center EMS, Kentucky State Police Dispatcher, and J. C. Kirby Funeral Home employee.
Don moved to Morehead in 1993 to become the Director of Morehead-Rowan County EMS and served in that position until 2002.
A volunteer for many organizations, Don had served on the State Board for the Kentucky Heart Association and the Kentucky Community Crisis Response Board. He had been State Chairman for the Kentucky Junior Miss Program and a former member of Jaycees, Big Brothers, and Morehead Rotary Club. He was a former pee wee football coach and for the past several years had filmed Morehead State University football games.
He also loved golfing, driving his 1979 corvette, and watching all kinds of sports, especially basketball.
