MOREHEAD, Ky. -
After a thrilling two-point victory over Tennessee State Thursday, the Morehead State women’s basketball team turns its attention toward Austin Peay on Saturday. The Lady Govs are one of just two teams to hand the Eagles an Ohio Valley Conference loss this year.

The game will be broadcast live on the Wazoo Sports Network. The “Big Blue” contest is also sponsored by Perimeter Periodontics.

The Eagles enter the game at 15-6 overall and 8-2 in the league. They are still just one game out of first place in the conference race, sitting a game behind leader Tennessee Tech.

Austin Peay has been an up-and-down squad this year. The Lady Govs’ overall record is just 7-15, but in OVC games they are right in the mix at 6-4 and in fourth place. In the last two seasons, the Lady Govs have produced a less-than-stellar overall mark but have won games when it counted most as they are the two-time defending OVC Tournament champions.

Guard Whitney Hanley tops the offense for APSU with 12.4 points per game, while Jasmine Rayner nearly scores in double figures on average as well with 9.9 markers per outing. She also grabs a team high 7.7 rebounds per game.

Earlier this year, MSU had a large lead at Austin Peay but could not hold on as the Lady Govs rallied for a 60-57 win. In the last four seasons, however, the Eagles have been good against APSU at home, winning four of the five times.

After Saturday, MSU has a crucial OVC road trip next week at Jacksonville State and Tennessee Tech.
