MOREHEAD, Ky. -
Morehead State women’s basketball will look to remain on top of the Ohio Valley Conference standings Saturday as they entertain the visiting Jacksonville State Gamecocks at 5:15 p.m. in Johnson Arena.

Fans that bring in canned goods will get $1 off of a general admission ticket to the game.

MSU moved to 4-1 in the league with a win over Tennessee Tech Thursday and is now a half-game ahead in the OVC race. Overall, the Eagles are 11-4 and are now 11-2 since dropping the first two games of the year.

MSU placed five players in double figures Thursday night when the Eagles dismantled Tennessee Tech 78-53. MSU will also look to extend its OVC home winning streak to six games. The Eagles have won seven of the last eight OVC games at home since last year.

JSU enters the game at 5-10 overall and 2-2 in the league under first-year coach Annette Watts, who came to JSU after several years as Davidson’s head mentor. The Gamecocks trailed by double digits at Eastern Kentucky Thursday, but a 50-point second half explosion resulted in a come-from-behind 72-65 victory. JSU is just 2-7 on the road this season.

Brittany Wiley is the lone player averaging double figures as she tosses in 14.1 markers per game. As a team, the Gamecocks score 59.7 per contest.

Three players reach double figures per game for MSU, led by Chynna Bozeman’s 16.1. Ashar Harris scores 13.9, and Courtney Lumpkin chucks in 13.4 per battle.

MSU’s three-game homestand ends with Saturday’s game. Next weekend, the Eagles will travel to Southeast Missouri Thursday and Eastern Illinois Saturday.
