MOREHEAD, Ky. --
The Morehead State men’s basketball team returns to Johnson Arena for its 2011-12 home opener against Asbury (Ky.) on Thursday at 7 p.m. ET.  The Division I Eagles are 0-2 overall, while the NAIA Eagles are 3-3 on the season.

The game will be webcast live on OVCSports.TV.  It will also be broadcast on the Eagle Sports Network, which includes four affiliates in Eastern Kentucky and MSUEagles.com.

Morehead State suffered defeats to North Carolina State (91-61) and the College of Charleston (72-57) in its season-opening road trip.

Asbury is coming off a 70-63 victory over Reinhardt University (Ga.) last Saturday.  The Eagles are 0-2 in true road contests this season.

Senior Terrance Hill leads Morehead State in scoring (13.5) and rebounding (4.0) through two games, while senior Ty Proffitt paces the Eagles in assists (3.0).  Hill and Proffitt lead a group of just five returnees from last year’s NCAA Tournament squad.

Asbury finished 20-8 overall a season ago and ended up in a three-way tie for first place in the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

Donnie Tyndall is in his sixth season as the head coach at Morehead State (96-72, .571) and his seventh season in charge of a college basketball program (126-77, .621).

Will Shouse is in his fourth season as the head coach at Asbury (56-38, .596) and his sixth year in charge of a college basketball program (107-62, .633).

Morehead State leads the all-time series 10-0 after posting a 90-49 win over Asbury on Nov. 12, 2010.  Proffitt went 7-of-7 from the free-thow line en route to 13 points in that meeting.  MSU and AU have also met in several exhibition contests over the years.

The Eagles are playing seven of their first eight regular-season games on the road this season.  MSU won’t square off with a Division I opponent at home until Dec. 7.
