Football Hosts Butler in Season Finale on Saturday

MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Morehead State (2-8 overall, 1-6 Pioneer Football League) wraps up the 2011 season on Saturday when Butler (5-5, 3-4) visits Jayne Stadium for a 1 p.m. ET contest.

The game will be carried live on the Eagle Sports Network, which includes WIVY-96.3 FM in Morehead, WLGC-1550 AM in Greenup and WMST-1150 AM in Mt. Sterling.  Updates will also be available during and after the contest on www.MSUEagles.com.

Morehead State will recognize its senior class prior to the game.  The group includes linebacker Tony Bachman, fullback Desmond Cox, defensive end Mark Hall, halfback Cory Jackson, defensive end Kyle Manley, linebacker Keaton May, halfback Ronnie McDermott, defensive end Jerome Raymond and wide receiver Andre Williams.

The Eagles have dropped five consecutive games and are looking for their first victory since Oct. 1 at Valparaiso.  The Bulldogs have alternated wins and losses the entire season.

Morehead State’s offense is led by junior quarterback Zach Lewis (293-for-467, 62.7%, 3,198 yds, 25 TD, 7 INT), junior wide receiver Donte Sawyer (53 rec, 770 yds, 10 TD) and Cox (151 rush, 738 yds, 7 TD).  Bachman paces the Eagle defense with 106 tackles, while Raymond owns 10 sacks for 63 yards.

Butler’s offense is led by senior quarterback Andrew Huck (185-for-285, 64.9%, 1,968 yds, 17 TD, 5 INT), senior wide receiver Zach Watkins (66 rec, 864 yds, 7 TD) and sophomore running back Trae Heeter (121 rush, 627 yds, 2 TD).  Junior linebacker Jordan Ridley paces the Bulldog defense with 125 tackles, while senior defensive lineman Grant Hunter owns 10 sacks for 59 yards.

Morehead State owns an 11-3 advantage in the all-time series against Butler, including a 7-1 edge at Jayne Stadium.  Lewis passed for 307 yards in last season’s match-up vs. Butler to help the Eagles score a 21-20 victory in Indianapolis.
MSU has not lost six straight affairs since the 2009 campaign.
