MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- Morehead State women's golf held its ground on Tuesday at the Barefoot at the Beach Challenge and finished sixth among the 15 schools competing at the Barefoot Resort's par 72, 6,017-yard Davis Love Course.
After heading into the final round in sixth place, the Eagles carded a 313 team total and held onto sixth by one stroke over Old Dominion and Campbell. East Carolina led from wire-to-wire in the 54-hole event to claim the team title by nine strokes over second-place Wisconsin.
For the Eagles, Marisa Kamelgarn turned in a 75-73-77 -- 219 to finish in a tie for sixth place. Emma Jonsson tied for 25th place among the players in the field with a 78-79-75 -- 232.
After a 73 in the first round, Paige Lausier carded a 78 in the second round and finished with an 83 on Tuesday for a tournament total of 236 and a 41st place showing. Sofia Petterson was consistent throughout and finished with Lausier in 41st as well. She fashioned a 79-79-78 -- 236.
Amalie Munck rounded out the lineup for the Eagles with a 70th place finish and an 84-83-84 -- 251.
The Eagles' next action will be the MSU Ocala Spring Invitational, an event hosted by MSU in Ocala, Fla., beginning March 21.
