Eagle Baseball Heads West for Weekend Series Against EKU

GAME NOTES (PDF)

MOREHEAD, Ky. --
The MSU baseball team travels to Turkey Hughes Field for an Ohio Valley Conference weekend series against arch rival Eastern Kentucky.

The Eagles will play a twinbill Saturday afternoon and wrap the series Sunday. Both days will begin with a 1:00 p.m. first pitch.

Morehead State is looking to break a six-game losing streak that dates back to the first of the month. The Eagle pitching staff has struggled during the slide, allowing two high-scoring games against Eastern Illinois last weekend. The Panthers slugged nine home runs Sunday afternoon at Allen Field.

Third baseman Andrew Deeds leads Eagle batters hitting .383 this season. He is dominating opposing pitchers so far in the month of April batting .500 with a home run, triple and six RBI.

MSU swept the Colonels last season in three games at Allen Field. They outscored the EKU 56-23 in the high-scoring set. Former Eagle standout Drew Lee went 8-for-14 in the series and drove in 11 RBI.

Head coach Jay Sorg is 5-4 against Eastern Kentucky in his previous three seasons. The Colonels own the all-time series record against MSU going 102-88-1.
