Former MSU Football Assistant Adcox Passes Away

MAGNOLIA, Ark. – Former Morehead State assistant football coach Jay Adcox passed away Tuesday night. Adcox lost a 10-month battle with cancer.

A picture and video tribute will be held on Friday, July 29, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Lewis Funeral Home Chapel in Magnolia, Ark. The family will be having a private memorial service in St. Joseph, Mo.

Adcox was MSU’s defensive coordinator and assistant head coach on Steve Loney’s staff from 1981-83. Adcox left Morehead State to become the head football coach at Peru State College where he stayed for two years. He left PSC for Southern Arkansas where he was the defensive coordinator for eight years . He also was SAU’s athletic director for the last 13 years.

Adcox was a native of Snoqualmie, Wash., and was married to his wife Bonnie for more than 37 years. They have two children, a son, Joseph, and a daughter, Sarah, both graduates of Southern Arkansas University.
