MOREHEAD, Ky. -- The Morehead State men's tennis team won its fourth straight match Wednesday night, outlasting visiting Lindsey Wilson College 4-2 in a contest that took more than six hours to finish at the Eagle Center Indoor Courts.
The Eagles improved to 5-3, while the Blue Raiders fell below .500 at 1-2.
After taking the doubles point, the Eagles fell behind 2-1 when David Clifford and Kevin Deligny dropped their singles matches at numbers one and two. But, Justin Harlow, Seve Day and Nathan Martin each collected three-set wins to seal the victory. Martin bested Gilles Cornelis 6-1, 4-6, 7-5 at number five to finally clinch the match after midnight eastern time Thursday morning. Hugo Almonte's battle at number six was halted in the second set.
Harlow rallied to top Pablo Vilches 6-7 (3), 6-4, 6-3 on court three, and Day got past Victor Saez 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 at number four.
In doubles, Clifford and Harlow nailed down MSU's first win, 8-4, at number two. Martin and Nathan Blum succumbed to Fernando Bogajo and Saez on court three, but Deligny and Day won the final three games of their contest on court one and beat Vilches/Cornelis 8-5.
Morehead State hosts Ohio Dominican at 3 p.m. Friday at the Eagle Center.
