MOREHEAD, Ky. --
The Morehead State women’s basketball team hits the road for the final time in the 2011-12 regular season as the Eagles face Austin Peay Saturday at 6:15 p.m. ET at Dave Aaron Arena. The game can be heard live on the Eagle Sports Network and on www.MSUEagles.com.

After dropping six of the previous seven games, Morehead State turned the momemtum around Monday with a 79-60 home win against Jacksonville State. The Eagles had balanced scoring with four double-figure efforts.

The Eagles (9-16/6-7 OVC) enter the final three games of the regular season with a chance to still claim either third or fourth place and a bye into the quarterfinals of the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament. Austin Peay (6-20/3-10 OVC) is still battling for one of the eight spots in the tournament.

MSU continues to be led on offense by its senior guard tandem of Courtney Lumpkin and Linda Dixon. Lumpkin scores a team-high 16.0 points per game, while Dixon tosses in 15.8. The duo combine to score nearly half of the Eagles’ total points per game. Junior forward Ashar Harris ranks third in the nation in rebounds at 12.2 per game and is nearing the 1,000 mark for her career.

Austin Peay is led by senior guard Whitney Hanley, who ranks third in the OVC in scoring at 18.7 points per game. The Lady Govs ended an eight-game losing skid Monday with an 85-72 road win at Murray State.

The series with APSU is the Eagles’ tightest amongst its OVC foes. With a 74-67 home win on Dec. 31, MSU has taken a 36-35 lead in the series, but MSU hasn’t had a lot of success in Clarksville lately. The Eagles are 1-5 in the last six games in Aaron Arena.

MSU returns home next week to finish the regular season. The Eagles host Eastern Illinois on Thursday at 5:15 p.m. ET and conclude the pre-tournament schedule with SIU Edwardsville on Saturday at 5:15 p.m.
