CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. -- Austin Peay starting pitcher Zach Toney tossed a complete game shutout as the Governors defeated Morehead State 8-0 Friday night at Raymond C. Hand Park.
Toney fanned 10 and allowed just two hits in the series-opening contest. He earned his fifth win of the season.
The Govs (30-1915-6 OVC) scored three runs in the third, two in the fifth and three more in the sixth. Second baseman Jordan Hankins went 2-for-2 and drove in three runs.
MSU (25-22, 10-12 OVC) suffered its third straight loss. Right-handed freshman
Aaron Goe made the start and took the loss, his fifth of the season. He allowed eight runs, six of which were earned, in 5.1 innings.

Chase Greenwell recorded the Eagles' only hits. Deeds is now just eight hits shy of breaking the school’s single-season hits record and 16 away from the career mark.
