Game notes heading into the contest:
Heated Rivalry
Morehead State’s series with Austin Peay has become somewhat of a heated battle. The Lady Govs lead the all-time series 37-36 and won the last meeting, a double-overtime 84-83 affair in the Ohio Valley Conference tournament to end last season. Five of the last six battles have been decided by 10 or fewer points. MSU has dropped five of the last six in Clarksville.
Live by the Three
The Eagles hit 7.1 triples per game to rank second in the OVC. MSU averages 24.2 three-point attempts per game to rank second in the league behind only UT Martin. In the last five games, MSU has averaged 10.5 made three-pointers on 27.1 attempts per game.
One For the Record Books
Junior guard Terrice Robinson scored 30 points at EKU Saturday and sophomore guard Almesha Jones registered 30 against SIUE last Monday. According to the MSU record book, it’s the first time in school history that different players have scored 30 points in back-to-back games.
30 Times 4
Robinson and Jones have also each reached the 30-point plateau twice this season.
Knocking Them Down
In the last three games, MSU is 31-of-39 (79 percent) at the free throw line. Overall, the Eagles hit 71 percent at the line this season.
Tough Times Away From Home
MSU is just 4-18 in road games in the last two seasons.
One of the League’s Best
Junior guard Terrice Robinson leads MSU and ranks third in the OVC in scoring at 17.4 points per game. She has reached double figures in 14 of the Eagles’ 17 games. Robinson has scored 20 or more points five times and 30 or more twice. She has led the team in the point column 12 times. In OVC games, Robinson hits 63 percent behind the arc and averages a league-high 23.7 points per game.
Elite Company
Terrice Robinson’s 39 points at Ohio on Dec. 9 were just two short of the school record of 41 set by former Eagles Bev Smith and Amy Kieckbusch.
Keeping Up With the Jones
Sophomore guard Almesha Jones shattered her previous career high in points with 31 versus Kent State on Dec. 21 and nearly equaled that Jan. 9 with 30 versus SIU Edwardsville. Jones leads the team in assists (65) and steals (47) as well. She had a career-high eight assists at Eastern Kentucky Jan. 12.
Twin Towers
Sophomore forwards Mackenzie Arledge and Casey Ryans were in the starting lineup together for the first time this year vs. SIU Edwardsville and produced 18 points and 17 rebounds combined. Arledge scored a
career-best 10 points, and Ryans grabbed a career-high 11 rebounds.
