Soccer Hosts Eastern Kentucky to Wrap Up Regular Season

MOREHEAD, Ky. -- With Ohio Valley Conference Tournament seeding at stake, the Morehead State soccer team wraps up its regular season on Friday when it hosts in-state rival Eastern Kentucky at 7 p.m. ET. 

MSU NOTES

• Sunday's 1-0 loss to Belmont snapped a streak of four straight Ohio Valley Conference wins, which equaled MSU's longest conference success streak since 2010.

• The Eagles enter this week as the Ohio Valley Conference leader in corner kicks with 94. MSU's 23 goals rank fourth in the league, while its 17 assists are tied for fifth.

• MSU allowed just five shots in the 1-0 victory at Tennessee Tech, including one in the second half. Before allowing an 81st minute goal to Belmont, MSU's defense allowed just one shot in the first half. The late tally by the Bruins was the first goal allowed by the Eagles in 317 minutes of action.

• The Eagles moved into the NCAA record book following their 5-2 victory over Southeast Missouri. Three MSU goals that came in 1:18 are the third fastest consectutive goals by one team in NCAA history and the fastest in OVC history.

PREVIEWING EASTERN KENTUCKY

• After recording victories in three of their last four matches, the Colonels must defeat MSU to keep their OVC Tournament hopes alive.

• Cassie Smith has scored five goals to lead the EKU attack, while teammate Nikki Donnelly ranks fourth in the OVC with 61 shots.

• EKU enters play tied for last in the OVC with 39 goals allowed.

• The Colonels defeated MSU 2-1 in overtime to open their 2012 OVC slate.
