Football Wraps Up League Schedule By Hosting Butler

MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Morehead State wraps up its Pioneer Football League schedule on Saturday when it hosts Butler.  Kick-off from Jayne Stadium is slated for 1 p.m. ET.  The Bulldogs are currently in a three-way tie for first place.

MSU is 3-7 overall and 3-4 in conference action after last Saturday's 56-3 home loss to San Diego.  BU is 8-3 on the year and 6-1 in league play after last Saturday's 72-12 home win over Valparaiso.

The Eagles own a 12-4 advantage in the all-time series against the Bulldogs.  Butler erased an 18-point deficit in the fourth quarter of last year's showdown in Indianapolis en route to a 39-35 victory.

Tickets are just $10 for adults and $3 for children 12-and-under.  MSU students are admitted free with a valid student ID.  All seating is general admission.  Tickets can be purchased by clicking here.  Parking is just $5 per vehicle.

Ten notes heading into the contest:

GOING .500 IN THE LEAGUE
Morehead State is 3-4 in the Pioneer Football League with one conference game left.  The Eagles went 4-4 in 2008 and 2010.  MSU has not finished above .500 in the PFL since a 5-2 mark in 2007.

THE HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE
The Eagles are finishing the season with three straight home games.  MSU owns a 10-11 (.476) record at Jayne Stadium over the past four seasons, compared to a 5-17 (.227) mark on the road.

TIME TO "JAM THE JAYNE"
Morehead State is third in the Pioneer Football League with a home attendance average of 5,490 this season.  The Eagles have welcomed 7,500 fans in three different contests at Jayne Stadium.

A CHALLENGING FINISH
Morehead State's four November opponents are a combined 25-16 (.610) this season.  Drake, San Diego and Butler have also combined for a 17-4 (.810) Pioneer Football League record.

YOUNG MEN IN A KEY POSITION
Two freshmen, Austin Gahafer and Logan Johnson, have attempted 426 of Morehead State's 429 passes in 2013.  Gahafer, who has made eight starts, is 210-of-338 for 1,971 yards.  He has tallied 11 touchdowns with 10 interceptions.

KEEP AN EYE ON THIS GUY
Freshman wide receiver Mason Rutherford pulled in a career-best seven catches for 37 yards last Saturday against San Diego.  He is one of two Eagles to take three passes to the end zone this season.

THE IMPORTANT MEN UP FRONT
Morehead State's offensive line has only allowed 12 sacks in 10 contests this season (1.20 average).  The Eagles have only yielded six sacks in the past six games (1.00 average).

A BRIGHT SPOT ON DEFENSE
Morehead State registered a season-best 11 tackles for loss last Saturday against San Diego.  Sophomore defensive lineman Austin Hollingsworth led the Eagles with two sacks, two tackles for loss and one forced fumble.

BEST GROUP IN THE LEAGUE
Morehead State leads the Pioneer Football League this year with 23.1 yards per kick return.  Junior Brandon Bornhauser is first in the circuit with an average of 27.3, while sophomore Justin Cornwall is fifth with an average of 22.5.

A KICKER WHO SCORES POINTS
Junior Luke Boyd has connected on 8-of-11 field-goal attempts and 25-of-28 extra-point tries this season for a team-high 49 points.  He provided Morehead State's only score last Saturday with a 28-yard field goal against San Diego.
