Football to Host Charlotte on Senior Day at Jayne Stadium

MOREHEAD, Ky. -- The Morehead State football team wraps up its 2013 campaign on Saturday when it hosts Football Championship Subdivision Independent Charlotte on Senior Day at Jayne Stadium.  Kick-off is set for 1 p.m. ET.

The Eagles are 3-8 overall, while the 49ers are 4-6 on the season.  Both programs are looking to snap four-game skids.  MSU is coming off a loss to Butler.  UNCC was idle last week.  The schools have never met in football.

Tickets are just $10 for adults and $3 for children 12-and-under.  MSU students are admitted free with a valid student ID.  All seating is general admission.  Tickets can be purchased by clicking here.  Parking is just $5 per vehicle.

Ten notes heading into the contest:

HATS OFF TO THE SENIORS
Morehead State will recognize its six seniors -- defensive back John Coleman, defensive back Steven Lester, defensive lineman Corey McSweeney, offensive lineman Kalvin Harrington, tight end Jason Rider and defensive lineman Aaron Meadows -- approximately 10 minutes before kick-off on Saturday.

THE HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE
Morehead State is finishing the season with three straight home games.  MSU owns a 10-12 (.455) record at Jayne Stadium over the past four seasons, compared to a 5-17 (.227) mark on the road.

A CHALLENGING FINISH
Morehead State's four November opponents are a combined 27-17 (.614) this season.  Drake, San Diego and Butler have also combined for a 19-7 (.731) Pioneer Football League record.

GETTING BACK ON TRACK
Junior Rees Macshara posted 13 rushing attempts for 100 yards and a career-best three touchdowns against Butler.  He was a First-Team All-Pioneer Football League selection in 2012 after rushing 173 times for 1,013 yards and six scores.

PLAYING LIKE A VETERAN
Freshman Jake Raymond pulled in eight catches for a career-best 140 yards and one touchdown against Butler.  He leads the Eagles with 54 receptions for 625 yards and two touchdowns in 2013.

YOUNG GUYS IN A KEY POSITION
Two freshmen, Austin Gahafer and Logan Johnson, have attempted 461 of Morehead State's 464 passes in 2013.  Gahafer, who has made nine starts, is 232-of-372 for 2,243 yards.

EAGLES IN THE PFL RANKINGS
Austin Gahafer ranks first among Pioneer Football League freshmen and seventh overall with 224.3 passing yards per game.  He also places 10th in total offense with 231.9 yards per contest.

SHOW US WHAT YOU CAN DO
Freshman C.J. Wall is expected to make his first collegiate start on Saturday against Charlotte.  The linebacker has made 16 tackles in nine games as a reserve this year.

ANCHORING THE SECONDARY
Defensive backs John Coleman (70) and Michael Jackson (67) are in Morehead State's top three for tackles this year.  Coleman, a senior, owns three double-figure performances, with a high of 12.  Jackson, a junior, has one double-figure effort.

EAGLE IN THE PFL RANKINGS
Sophomore defensive lineman Ronald Cooper is tied for ninth in the Pioneer Football League in sacks average (0.59) and knotted for 11th in tackles for loss average (1.00).  He has been credited with 52 tackles in 11 affairs this season.
