Former Morehead State golfer Josh Teater posted a 66-70-73-69--278 to tie for second at the recent Farmer's Insurance Open in San Diego, Calif. The MSU graduate finished just four strokes behind Tiger Woods in his best professional effort.
Teater earned $536,800 from the Professional Golf Association Tour event, according to PGATour.com. The performance at Torrey Pines pushed his career earnings beyond $3.4 million. He is currently ninth in the 2013 FedExCup Standings.
"I called Josh a few days ago to congratulate him on an outstanding finish," Head Coach Dr. Rex Chaney said. "We are so incredibly proud of Josh for everything he has accomplished as a professional golfer. It couldn't happen to a nicer guy."
Teater, a native of Danville, Ky., has been a pro since 2002. He was inducted into MSU's Athletic Hall of Fame in 2011.
"Josh is a great recruiting tool for our program," Chaney said. "We can point to him as a recent success story, and he's certainly someone our young men look up to. I am so glad Josh remains connected with our program 10 years later."
Teater recently spoke with David Patrick from MSU's communications & marketing department. The link is located above.
