MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Andrew Doan, a defensive end at Morehead State from 2006-09, has returned to the football program as an assistant coach. He will assist with defensive ends and linebackers, in addition to coordinating alumni relations for the Eagles.
“We are excited about the addition of Andrew to our coaching staff,” Head Coach Rob Tenyer said. “Andrew is an up-and-coming football coach, with a nice personality and terrific work ethic.”
Doan was a three-time All-Pioneer Football League selection. He was named to the first team as a sophomore in 2007, and tabbed to the second team as a junior in 2008 and senior in 2009.
Doan recorded 133 tackles, 41.5 tackles for loss and 18.5 sacks as an Eagle. In 2009, he posted a team-high 14.5 tackles for loss. He was also a three-time Dean’s List honoree at MSU.
“Andrew accomplished quite a bit as a player,” Tenyer said. “We are looking forward to the contributions he will make on the defensive side of the ball. We also know, as a former MSU player, he will do an excellent job in his role as our alumni relations coordinator.”
Doan was an assistant coach at PFL tri-champion Butler in 2012. In addition to working with the defensive linemen, Doan focused on film operations, scouting, recruiting and camp operations.
He coached a First-Team All-PFL choice (Jeremy Stephens), the league's Defensive Freshman of the Year (Kyle Annis) and two honorable mention selections (Annis and Glen Somers).
Doan served as a graduate assistant in the University of Dayton’s psychology department in 2011-12. A native of Dublin, Ohio, he earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from MSU in 2010.
