Women's Hoops Wraps Up Season Saturday at TTU

Sophomore guard Whitney Kyle
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- Morehead State's women's basketball team will wrap up the 2012-13 season Saturday at Tennessee Tech. Tipoff time in the Eblen Center is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. ET.

MSU (9-20/5-10 OVC) looks to end on a high note. The Eagles' loss at Tennessee State Thursday eliminated them from contention for an OVC Tournament berth. But, MSU's roster featured no seniors this season.

TTU (17-11/11-4 OVC) can clinch the league's East Division title with a victory.

Game notes heading into the contest:

Free Throw Success
MSU is currently shooting 73.6 percent at the free throw line this season as a team. If that mark holds up, it would be the best team free throw accuracy since 2001-02 when that group of Eagles finished the year at 73.7 percent.

Ice in Our Veins
In the last seven games, the Eagles are 81-of-92 from the free throw line. That’s 88 percent efficiency.

Downtown Bombers
The Eagles hit 7.5 triples per game to rank second in the OVC and 16th nationally. MSU averages more than 24 three-point attempts per game to rank second in the league behind only UT Martin. MSU has only five games with less than 20 three-pointers attempted and five with 30 or more launches from distance.

Over 200 Threes...Again
A staple of MSU’s offense - even with two separate head coaches in the last six years - has been three-point shooting. MSU has 217 triples this season, the sixth straight season the team has nailed at least 200 three-pointers.

That’s a Lot of 30s
Sophomore guard Almesha Jones and Terrice Robinson have combined for five 30-point efforts this season, which gives MSU the most 30-point games in the OVC. It also marks the most MSU 30-point performances in a season since 2010-11.

Robinson for All-OVC
Terrice Robinson leads MSU and ranks third in the OVC in scoring at 17.3 points per game. She has reached double figures in 25 of the Eagles’ 29 games. Robinson has scored 20 or more points nine times and 30 or more twice. She has led the team in the point column 18 times. In OVC games, Robinson averages 18.4 points.

The 500 Club
Terrice Robinson is just the seventh player in school history to reach the 500-point plateau for a season. She currently ranks tied for ninth on the MSU season scoring list. In the OVC this year, she is among three players to score 500 or more.

Keepin Up With the Jones
Almesha Jones leads the team in assists (118) and steals (70). Her steal total ranks fourth on the MSU single season chart.

Turning Heads
Junior guard Allie Turner scorched the nets for a career-high 28 points on Feb. 18 versus Jacksonville State. That included eight three-pointers as she fell just one shy of the school single-game record of nine held by former teammate Chynna Bozeman and 90s standout Sherita Joplin.

New Trio
Morehead State has added a high-quality trio for the 2013-14 season. Billie Hearn (Dry Ridge, Ky.), Shiloh Murphy (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) and Shay Steele (Salisbury, N.C.) will suit up for the Eagles next season.
