MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Anna Magnusson has signed a National Letter of Intent with the Morehead State women’s golf program. She will have four years of eligibility, beginning with the 2013-14 school year.
Magnusson, a native of Taby, Sweden, is ranked in the top 100 of all female golfers and top 50 of female amateurs in her home country. She recently competed in the Annika Invitational Europe and represented the Swedish National Team in match play.
In 2012, Magnusson won the Junior Masters Invitational at Huvudstaden Golf Club, Junior Masters Invitational at Haninge Golf Club and Skandia Tour Riks Tournament in Skane. She also claimed two top-10 finishes on the Swedish Junior Tour last summer.
"We are really excited about Anna,” Head Coach Stephanie Barker said. “She is a strong player who comes to our program with quite a bit of international experience. Anna is a long ball striker and puts herself in position to score low each time she tees it up.”
MSU will have four golfers from Sweden on its 2013-14 roster -- Magnusson, Sofia Pettersson, Anna Appert Lund and Linnea Scholin. Appert Lund is the reigning Ohio Valley Conference Golfer of the Year, while Scholin was selected to the 2013 All-Newcomer Team.
“Anna is going to be a great fit for our program and school,” Barker added. “She is a good student and great person who comes from a very nice family. We have had some outstanding freshman classes, and Anna will have the opportunity to continue that legacy."
